Messenger Platforms and ChatBots

It was gold rush towards responsive apps and native apps and then toward hybrid apps etc... But the issues around app-install costs and app deletion rates, combined with rise of messaging apps on mobile has led to gold rush towards chatbots.

In US Facebook messenger app, snapchat are most notable apps. In China WeChat is the king.

So, If I am responsible for mobile strategy, what do I need to do?.

Here are simple things you can do.

1. Develop simple chatbot for these platforms to make sure, you appear to the users when are searching for your brand specifically. Then engage those users using the bot. These Bots decision trees can be very simple to start with.

2. Bots can be used as acquisition channel, to gather information from the user and later respond to that user in other traditional ways. Or bots can be very sophisticated and allow users to finish the transactions right then and there(preferred).

Presence in these messenger platforms isa must going forward to engage ever migrating mobile user base there.

Also note that, these platforms offer "Paid-Ad" strategy. You can use your acquisition $$ on these platforms(Similar to Google Ad strategy of bidding on right content) to make sure, you appear to the users when they discuss certain topics.
