App Content, Discoverability etc
App Content
As content consumption and creation inside mobile apps grow, obvious question on content promotion side is, how to keep the content fresh attracting users back to the app to avoid people from deleting the apps after initial usage(study shows lot of people download apps for specific reasons and delete apps after initial usage).
Also most importantly, how to make these content discoverable by the users, to get their attention by making content relevant..
Second question is, how do brands and businesses monetize the user generated content and actions?.
Third question is, how do these applications monetize the app assets effectively?.
Well, there are first generation analytics solutions, that help to some extent.
App-App Connectivity, Mobile Search and Deeplinking
One of the major issues with native apps has been, unlike web apps, native apps couldn’t talk to each other. Also, search results from popular search engines didn’t include native mobile results, instead took users to safari and web search results. This pretty much opposite of what one expects while searching in the mobile using native apps(native google app searches or Apple spotlight searches)
However, since late 2014, Deep-linking technology has been getting more and more attention from both IOS and Android mobile platforms, major App Publishers and Developers with promise to solve that issue.
Some of the early work has been getting native app developers to support deep linking and various companies have been funded to help getting more deeplinks (branch.io, urx and button) supported in native apps with their SDK through deferred deep linking and custom URL schemes.
Meanwhile Apple announced “universal” links in IOS9 and Google announced App Links in their upcoming Marshmallow Launch with promises to link web content and mobile app content.
However, it still doesn’t solve most of problems I outlined above and considered to be “beginning” of larger revolution around providing mobile-first experiences to very demanding mobile user.
