BigData Landscape - Legacy

Obviously lot of companies started their data journey long before current solutions were available and it make it Hadoop, related technologies like MapReduce and other tools look like legacy tools. 

If you have a luxury of starting your data platform journey, obviously that is not the place to start with. So, lot of early solutions have been focused around

1 .how do I warehouse all the data without loosing it and securely.

2.  how do I provide some early BI insights into it.

3. If I am lucky, I will do some Product innovation projects to close the loop with the customers to provide them value-added features.

So, lot of companies started with Hadoop based systems and later started adding Spark type solutions to on top of HDFS to reuse data layer and build value added applications.
